Final Report

We are busy prepare the final report this few days. We hope that our final report can satisfy the grading criteria and get a better grade for it. Until now, we had been done some final evaluation to the report. This is because we decided to add 4 of the 8 golden rules for interface design. The 4 golden rules we decided to add in our final report are as below:

(a) Strive for consistency

(b) Offer informative feedback

(c) Prevent errors

(d) Reduce short term memory

We decided to add these rules into our report because we found that they are suitable and important when we redesign a website. We must take them as consideration in order to create a new and high usability website. In conclusion for the final report, creating a successful website which can attract the attention from the users is not an easy task. There is long way for us to learn!

Imagine Cup 2013 (Human Computer Interaction)

What a nice idea from the team!!! Can't wait to see their presentation in July!!!

Andrii Konovalenko, a high school student from Ukraine will be representing his country at the Worldwide Imagine Cup Finals in July! His project, Camtouch, helps change the way of human-computer interaction by allowing a user to change any flat surface in to a smart-board with the help of a computer and a web camera. We can't wait to check the project out!!!!!!! From this, we know that out side the world is going to be more human-computer interaction. This is trend is going famous and will be reach top of world in one day!!! Gogogo!!

Last Lecture Class for HCI

At here, we need to thank to Puan Azrina for her hard work by teaching us during this semester. We learn lot of things from her about this subject Human Interaction Computer. Due to she has important meeting and cannot to conduct the lecture class during the week 13 and week 14, so we would like to wish her good luck to her trip and meeting. On the other hand, our group also able to achieve the one the best presentation group in the class. This is may due to the hard work from our group members. We learn a lot in this HCI class and hope that Puan Azrina can teach us in the following semester since we still a second year students. In conclusion, Puan Azrina we wish you good luck and all the best to your trip/meeting. Last but not least, we hope we also can score well in final exam too without wasting the effort from our dear lecturer!!!

Puan Azrina, we wish you all the best in your trip and meeting!!!!!! Thank you for your effort to teach us during the class. 

Presentation of Final Report 2 (14/5/2013)

Continue from the first part of presentation of final report on tuesday, we would like to add some literature review like citation of articles for our final report. We had been choosing two articles for our report. The first one will be about we need to have a good understanding of the website structure whereas the second one will be about understanding and meet users' expectations. The two articles which we mentioned as below:

From  the citation article, we know that we must have a better understanding for the structure of the website in order to let users easy to search the information in the website. This is because we cannot expect users know as much as our site since they may be the new visitors to our website.

The second articles which means that we need to understand and meet user's expectations. We must understand and meet the users expectations in order to increase the usability of the website. If not, we just create a frustrating website to them and totally useless. When we are creating a website, we must follow some guidelines and principle to achieve the success for our website!

Throughout the final report, we had used one evaluation method which is survey and questionnaire. There are two different questionnaire we used. The first one is use for the evaluation of the sport abyss original interface  whereas the second questionnaire we used is for the final evaluation of the sport abyss re-design interface. Why we need to use the second questionnaire? This is because we need to know the opinions from the public about our re-design interface. The opinions from us are not enough and we must get the opinions from the public too.

The questionnaire above is going to help us collect the quantitative data from the public. Questionnaire is less time consuming, flexible to conduct, less expensive and allow a lot of respondents. So, we hope we can get the accurate result as much as possible from the questionnaire.

Presentation of Final Report (14/5/2013)

We just done the presentation of our final report 2 days ago which is Tuesday (14/5/2013). We are enjoying the presentation on that day. We hope that our student can capture what are we going to present. Our report title which is about the sport and focus on man category. During the presentation, we try to show some weaknesses of the sport website we chosen earlier (/www.sportsabyss.com/). However, the webpage is down and unavailable right now. Below show the interface of the website:

From the interface above we can see that the webpage quite weak in design. For example, the interface of the webpage is less attractive compared to the other sport websites. Furthermore, there is no any navigation search bar in the website which caused the users or visitors hard to search the information in the website. In addition, there is no any home menu and category in the website. If we are the users, we may feel frustrating when visiting this kind of sport website due to difficulties to search the require information.

After we done some discussion and collect some opinions from our respondents, we had re-designed a new webpage for the sport abyss. We re-design the webpage according to the top 15 sport websites in the world like sl.com, yahoosports, espn.com and so on. Why those sport websites so famous? There must be some criteria over there we need to learn. So, our team have done some survey to those websites and finally the new interface is coming out as below:

The new interface which we design for sport abyss is according to those famous sport websites. We provide some new function like adding search bar, loading highlights video, reading latest sport news and so on. This can attract most of the users to visit our websites due to this kind of services we provided. During the re-designed process, we also concerned about the familiar interface of the sport website. Why we concern about it? This is because we want to increase the usability of the websites. Familiar interface which we mentioned about is like the search bar, home menu, structure of the website and so on. By providing the familiar interface, it can help to increase the usability such as memorability and learnability. In addition, familiar interface can help the users would not feel frustrated when they are searching the information in our website.

Presentation Preparation

Tomorrow will be our group presentation. Now, we are busy preparing the materials for presentation. Besides that, we also make some correction to the slides. Hopefully, we can do well in the presentation for tomorrow. Our presentation will be more focus on the man category which is about sport. Right now, we are creating a new interface for the new websites. Later, we will upload a new interface for our sport website. Fight Fight Fight!!!

Group Project

Finally, we had pass up our group project proposal on 15/4/2013. Our project scope is relate to sport website's interface. So, the website that we choose is (www.sportabyss.com). Below is the interface of the website that we choose,

There are a few weaknesses that we discovered from this website:

1) The content is not well arranged.
2) The head title is not easy to locate.
3)  The website interface is not attractive.

Besides that, we also proposed the interface design to tackle the weaknesses found by us:

1) The website's content needs to be categorized.
2) Provide a search box for the user to search.
3) Implement past and latest sport news.
4) Standardize the size of every column so that everything is in well manner.
5) Categories each events or news according to state or place.
6) Hyperlink needs to add to link to the next window.
7) Add some new features to the website.
8) Use of familiar formatting and navigation scheme

Furthermore, we also did some survey to our project because we want to gather people's opinion towards the website that we choose. This is because we want to get the requirements and opinions from the public so that we can know what they want.
